theguardian.com, Tuesday 25 March 2014 14. Riccardo Zacconi, chief executive and co-founder, could see a $745m windfall when King starts trading on the New York Stock Exchange. King Digital Entertainment's stock is set to be valued at up to $7.6bn when it begins trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, as investors show a renewed appetite for technology firms. Shares in the company behind the wildly popular smartphone game Candy Crush will fluctuate wildly when they begin trading, but it is clear that King's biggest shareholders will suddenly be very rich. Based on the expected flotation price of up to $24 (?14. A self-made millionaire, Morris has chaired King since 2003. He left school at 16 and by 20 was earning a living as a management consultant. He worked in the US before returning to his home town of Derby, where he started a handful of businesses including a hardwood flooring company, a Spanish property group and a dating agency. When uDate was sold in 2002, it was the second-largest dating site in the world. Morris netted ?20m and spent part of the money buying a stake in his beloved Derby County football club and part of it establishing King. King's urbane Italian chief executive was born in Rome, where he studied economics, and started his career at Boston Consulting. He was lured into digital business during the dotcom boom, and ran the German unit of a Swedish web portal called Spray, which failed to make it to the stockmarket before the bubble burst. Zacconi moved to the UK in 2001 to look for digital investments, and by 2002 had been persuaded to join uDate. The company was sold soon after for $150m and merged with Match.com. he eventually launched King with colleagues from Spray, and persuaded some of uDate's backers, including Melvyn Morris and Toby Rowland, to join the new venture. Spray missed its window to make it rich after delaying its IPO by a month and was sold to Lycos instead. Zacconi's timing looks better with King. One of King's founders, Knutsson recently claimed to have designed 10 of the company's 15 worst games – it has made 180 so far – but Candy Crush also emerged from his Stockholm studio. A keen gamer himself, his vivid designs are inspired by the multicoloured, flashing and bleeping arcade games of the last century, from Pac-Man to Space Invaders and Tetris. He also has a business brain, thanks to a BA in cost-analysis and finance from the Stockholm School of Economics, and comes from a family of entrepreneurs. His parents ran a denim brand and retail chain, and his sister has her own clothing company. Knutsson co-founded Spray, where he met Zacconi. Stockholm-based Markgren worked at Spray, along with many of King's founders, before moving into gaming. He manages the pivotal Swedish operations and balances work with a passion for pike-fishing. King's Belgian chief operating officer holds an MBA from France's prestigious Insead, and came to King from the data-centre management business Tideway. Stymne is not on the board, but he is named as a co-founder. One of the technical brains behind King, he designed the company's IT system having previously worked alongside Knutsson at Lycos, the digital advertising agency Razorfish and Spray. Another co-founder, Hartwig is the brains behind King's data strategy, harvesting information from the 1.4bn game plays a day to hone each product from its testing phase on the King.com website through to its launch as a standalone smartphone app. He places data scientists in each of the small, typically 10-strong teams developing new King games, collating user experience to decide, for example, how difficult to make each successive level. Like his co-founders, Hartwig cut his teeth at Spray. Having joined the board during the hard times in 2010, Florin has stuck around long enough to reap the benefits. Now a full-time non-executive director, he spent 14 years in senior roles at Electronic Arts, the world's third-largest gaming company and maker of the Fifa football games and the sci-fi shooter Titanfall. Apax Partners, investor, $3. King was one of the last venture capital investments Apax made before focusing on taking more mature companies private. It is also the British buyout firm's most successful bet to date. Apax, whose holdings include the fashion chain New Look, the Orange mobile network in Switzerland and a trade publishing joint venture with the Guardian's parent company, injected about $36m in 2005, and its 48% stake is now worth almost 100 times that. Index is a legend in technology venture capital, having backed Facebook and Skype, as well as British successes such as the clothing retailer Asos and the Moshi Monsters maker Mind Candy. Index invested alongside Apax in 2005, putting in an estimated $7m. Toby Rowland co-founded King with Morris and Zacconi and was co-chief executive until 2008, but he sold his shares in 2011, just months before the company launched its first hit Facebook game. He is married to the author and Vogue journalist Plum Sykes, and his father was the mining tycoon Tiny Rowland, who once owned the Observer and House of Fraser department stores. Morris persuaded him to move to Derby and become marketing director of uDate. He invested and shared in the spoils when the site was sold for $150m, using the proceeds to set up King. Despite backing the company for eight years, like the founding Beatles member Pete Best, Rowland left too early to share in its success. His 40m shares were sold back to King for a mere $3m, according to data from PrivCo. Had Rowland stayed in, he would have been King's largest individual shareholder today, with a stake worth up to $966m. Photo from www.ncmf.gov.phMANILA, Philippines – The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) on Tuesday insisted that the non-government organizations (NGO) it dealt with were not “bogus. “Hindi yata masasabi na peke yan (You can’t probably say that they are fake)…These NGOs have the proper documentation,” Secretary Mehol Sadain of the NCMF told Radyo INQUIRER 990AM. Sadain explained they thoroughly screened the NGOs before accrediting them. However, he admitted they were endorsed by lawmakers. The NCMF is the first agency under the Office of the President linked with the pork barrel scam. The Commission on Audit (COA), in its latest audit report, revealed that it became a conduit for the Priority Development Assistance Fund of several senators and congressmen. Among the NGOs the agency dealt with were allegedly “bogus” or linked to the pork barrel scam. But Sadain said all the organizations they accredited had complete documents. He admitted, however, that the NGOs did not undergo a bidding process, in accordance to COA rules. “Alam naman natin ang politician, ang lawmaker sya ang nageendorse ng NGO. Tinatanggap lang yan ng agency. In our case, ang ginawa namin in-accredit namin by asking them to submit at least 15 documents just to prove their existence, to prove their capability to do the project, to prove eligibility,” he explained. Sadain pointed out that the audit report was not final and they are still in the process of asking the NGOs to complete their documents. He said the NCMF closely monitors the PDAF-funded projects, which benefit Muslim communities all over the country. The former Commission on Elections commissioner said that while the NCMF received a three percent administration fee, their expenses can be accounted for. “Three percent lang po iyon and we can account for that. He echoed President Benigno Aquino III’s statement ordering Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Cabinet Secretary Rene Almendras and Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad to look into the matter. Aquino on Monday admitted that he was not aware that the NCMF has been receiving PDAF. Sadain, who was appointed in April 2012, said the agency was included in the PDAF “menu” for lawmakers in 2011. You might have heard that mining shares have been having a tough time of late, what with Chinese economic growth having slowed and commodities prices hitting a resulting slump. So, then, would it surprise you to learn that Rio Tinto (LSE: RIO) (NYSE: RIO. How about over the past five years covering the banking crisis, the recession, and the supposed Chinese crunch? Sure, Rio Tinto shares have been pretty volatile, but again they’re ahead of the FTSE with a rise of better than 75%. Foolish ISA investors, of course, will be looking to the longer term than that, so what does the past decade look like? Well, the Rio Tinto price has trebled, blowing away the FTSE’s mere 50% gain over the same period. Consider that alleged Chinese crisis — China’s growth rate for 2014 is currently forecast at only around 7. And look at what Rio Tinto produces — iron ore, aluminium, coal, copper, nickel, gold, silver. Do you think any of those are likely to go out of fashion in the next 20-30 years? And if you really think that demand is shaky, consider that Rio managed record shipments of iron ore in 2013, together with record production for both bauxite (aluminium ore) and thermal coal. And for 2013, the company enjoyed a 10% rise in underlying earnings and lifted its dividend by 15%. Oh, yes, dividends — on top of that FTSE-busting share price performance over the past ten years, Rio Tinto dividends are forecast to yield around 4% per year. And if that isn’t enough, the shares are currently valued on a forward price to earnings (P/E) ratio of only around 9 for 2014, dropping as low as 8.5 for 2015. The FTSE forward average currently stands at 17, meaning that Rio Tinto shares command only half the average price relative to earnings. With fundamentals like these, I don’t think a share price rise of around 6% per year going forward is too much to hope for — and if that comes off over the next 20 years coupled with a 4% annual dividend yield, every ?1,000 invested in Rio shares in an ISA today could be worth ?6,700 by 2034. Skanska USA Commercial Development Inc. is planning to develop this 12-story office building at 88 M St. NE in NoMa. Email | Twitter The first phase of Skanska USA Commercial Development Inc.'s 900,000-square-foot mixed-use project in NoMa has been approved for construction, but there are no plans to put a shovel in the ground, yet. In 88 M St. NE, Skanska will build a 315,000-square-foot office building with ground floor retail (likely a large restaurant) located a block from the New York Avenue Metro Station. The 12-story structure will include three levels of underground parking, a 5,000-square-foot tenant-only fitness center and a sky deck. Skanska has not inked an anchor tenant yet for 88 M, though it was one of a half dozen projects pitched as a future Washington Post headquarters. A Skanska official said the permit was pulled in order to be ready to go at any time, either with a tenant or speculatively, but actual construction is some time away. The permit is good for two years. A similar office building is planned for 44 M St. NE. At 22 M St. NE, Skanska will constuct a 285-unit apartment building with roughly 5,000 square feet of retail. The three buildings account for more than 900,000 square feet. It's a fact that Nicole has a lot of hair, too much in fact for the size of her face. Most women only dream to be able to grow their hair that long. Nicole has a small oval face and although her hair is one of her distinguished features it seems to overtake the face. What Nicole's got right is she doesn't wear a fringe, I say this because if you look at the photo above taken on December 2013 at the X-Factor Sightings In London you can see that her forehead is very small and a fringe would cut it down even more making her face appear smaller too. Nicole has a nice face and would suit her more if the style was taken back. This means that she could get away with a shorter style or could wear it in an up do, or half up/down. Other than that, if Nicole wants to keep it long I would recommend that she cuts at least 2-3 inches off the length, this would make those tatty ends look in better condition and would be a nicer proportion to her face. If Nicole was in a brave mood I would recommend a style that was half way over her ears that she could wear back over her ears or forward. I would add some choppy layers and keep the outline soft and a little feathery. I would keep her fringe fairly long (around bottom of eyes) but would be worn back with some height or to the side, or if she wanted a small amount of hair on her forehead then no more than a slither, this would make her look more sexy than ever. Many long hair lovers will disagree BUT you wait and see, I predict sometime in the future she will go for the chop and if it's cut well you would hopefully be converted to the "shorter hair doesn't look so bad club". The former X Factor judge out in London [Getty]The photo above was taken in November 2013 at Mr Chow's Restaurant in London. This is the same haircut as the first photo and you can see it looks just as bad. The hair looks nice and shiny I give it that but the connection from the sides to back is terrible. If she wants to wear it long she would have to first (as mentioned above) lose around 2-3 inches from the length then grow the sides about 2 inches longer, this would make it look more connected and a much better shape. I mentioned above that I prefer her hair taken back, you can see from the photo above taken on February 2014 at The BRIT Awards, that her face looks better and even stronger looking without losing her femininity. Although I think if the sides were slightly lifted out (it looks a bit squashed) it would be a perfect look for her. On this photo you can see what I mean by her forehead looking small and hair taken back opens her face out a bit more. The next photo above taken on the 21st January 2014 at the Beats By Dre Music Launch GRAMMY Party, even though it's just a simple blow-dry away from her face with a little height, it really suits her. I would always recommend a style that produces a little height for her, this is because any flat styles would make her face appear even smaller. The next photo taken on December 2013 at Shoreditch House in London, although she's looking down for some reason from what I can see this is one of her stronger looks and possibly the best I've seen. It's got the height, strength and very importantly well balanced for her face. Although this is put up it's not that dissimilar to my recommended haircut that I mentioned above. Below is a link to one of my hair videos. It's a beehive ponytail makeover and would look lovely on Nicole. Please note that the first look where the hair is across the model's forehead would not suit, however the second and final look where the hair is taken back would. I have recommended two styles above, the shorter hair look on Nicole and an up do with hair taken away from her face. For my face shape section bellow this will be referring to the hair up style's. Nicole has this face shape so my suggested style would suit this face shape perfectly. - a heart shape face The style would work BUT you must keep some hair on your forehead in order to make it appear a bit smaller. I would also make sure that you can see a little hair from the front around her neck line. this will open out the narrow bottom part of your heart shape face. - a square shape face A hair up would be fine although I would have some pieces of hair pulled out at the back and possibly at the sides, I would keep this style loose and soft rather than pulled back tight, as this will help soften a square shape face. - a round shape face Keep some height on top and for the sides not too tight or wide. If too wide then your face may become more round and if too tight will be a similar illusion. It all sounds a bit technical, so if your not too sure you could always visit your hairdresser to work their magic, watch what they do then possibly repeat at home. - a long rectangular face Keep the style fairly flat on top not producing anymore height and the sides I would add some fullness, (not pulled back as tight) as long face shapes are normally narrow and will look better with some width. Last week's sale of a small Akron-area bank has experts sizing up which banks -- including some names you don't recognize -- may expand or move in to Northeast Ohio for the first time. Banking analyst Jeff Davis of Mercer Capital in Nashville believes the new trend will be two small banks locking arms, as occurred when Westfield Bank of Medina County bought Valley Savings of Cuyahoga Falls last week. The two together, at about $1 billion in assets combined, will be a little smaller than First Federal of Lakewood. "The small banks are more burdened by the more difficult regulatory environment," said banking analyst Fred Cummings of Elizabeth Park Capital Management in Pepper Pike. "Their profitability will be constrained. Two small banks can combine and benefit by reducing their costs and complementing the services they can offer together, Davis said. He predicts we'll see more small banks getting purchased by other small banks, rather than by larger banks. Cummings said that the costs of new regulations imposed since the financial meltdown will make it challenging for many banks under $2 billion in assets to survive. Of the roughly 40 banks operating in Greater Cleveland, fewer than a dozen exceed $2 billion in assets. Banking analyst Terry McEvoy of Oppenheimer & Co. in Maine said there is "a pent-up demand" for bank-buying because there were almost no purchases for three or four years during the banking crisis. While the crisis is over now, the recovery has been slow. People just aren't borrowing and spending like they used to. So since banks are struggling to increase loan volume and profits on their own, the way to do it quickly is to buy another bank, McEvoy said. McEvoy expects to see both small banks combining, and larger banks buying smaller banks. "It seems the stars are lined up for this period of bank consolidation," he said.
